History The need of the English Medium School was felt by the local people of Puttur and on their request the Bethany English Medium School, Panglai, Darbe, Puttur was opened on 1^st June 2005.  There were 23 students admitted to First Standard and 47 in Kindergarten.  The School temporarily opened in the old building of St Francis Xavier Higher Primary School near Little Flower School.  Sr Helen Mary who was the Superior of the community took the responsibility of smooth transactions in view of starting the English Medium School together with the Headmistress Sr Prashanthi.  In the year 2006 the new plot for the School building was purchased near Pathrao Hospital and the Foundation stone was laid by the Provincial Superior Sr Inviolata and blessed by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Bonaventure Nazareth. Sr Agnes Shanthi shouldered the responsibility of administrating Infant School Bethany.  Later Sr Celine Petra, Sr Jyothika, Sr Lavita and Sr Celine Petra rendered their committed service.

 Due to the untiring effort of the Management and by the Cooperation of the Educational Authorities, Bethany High School was established on 23^rd March 2009 with English as the Medium of instruction. Sr Emerita BS was appointed as the first Headmistress and Sr Doris BS was the Correspondent of the school. Sr Jacintha D Souza and Sr Shanthi Agnes served as Headmistresses for the past years.  At present the School from Pre KG to class 10^th standard is headed by Sr Anitha Tressy Pais as the Headmistress & Sr Prashanthi as the Correspondent. They work hard for all round development of the School. The strength of the school is 1660 from Pre-KG to10^th standard.  Children together with the Curricular, various types of Co-curricular activities like Dance, Drawing, abacus, calligraphy, Chess and karate Classes are held.

This Institution imparts quality education for the students under the motto “Transformative Education or Fullness of life Towards Human Fraternity.”  It is marvelous to note that the school secured 100% result in SSLC examinations.  Apart from studies, they are prepared for various activities like scouts & Guides, Sports, Science exhibitions etc.

We have a vibrant Parent Teachers Association under the leadership of Mr Raghunatha Rai as Vice President.
